Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. The calculator works without an account and without giving us anything. If you choose to save your settings, the data you provide is stored in a secure environment and is used solely to support the services of this website. We do not share, lease, or sell your information, ever.

This Privacy Policy explains how BrahmaMuhurta.Info (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use this website and the optional “My settings” service. By using the website you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. Where we rely on your consent (for example to send you emails), we ask for it separately and you can withdraw it at any time.

If you just use the calculator (no account)

• Approximate location. To work out the times we need to know roughly where you are. Unless you choose a place yourself, your internet address (IP address) is sent to the service IP2Location.io, which returns the nearest city. We do not store your IP address for this; only the resulting place is kept, in a cookie on your device for one day.
• The place you type. If you type a town or city, the text is sent from our server to Geoapify to suggest places. Your browser does not contact Geoapify directly. The place you pick is kept in a cookie on your device (7 days). Only its coordinates are sent to sunrisesunset.io to get sunrise and sunset times.
• Technical data. Like every website, our web server and hosting provider handle your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages requested, and keep standard technical logs for security and troubleshooting. To limit abuse we also count requests per visitor; this counter uses a one-way scrambled form of the IP address and is deleted within a day.
• Page analytics. Our public pages (including the calculator, monthly times, My settings, sign-in, unsubscribe, and the information pages) use a website analytics tool (Site Behaviour) that measures how those pages are used, for example where visitors click and scroll. The admin area does not use it. See our Cookie Policy.

If you save your settings (My settings)

• your email address;
• your chosen location (place name, coordinates and time zone), so the times and the emails are right for you;
• whether you want the daily email and/or the monthly calendar;
• when you joined, confirmed your address and last logged in, plus the IP address and date you used when you confirmed (as proof of your consent);
• a record of the emails we sent you (which email, when, and whether it was delivered);
• for each browser you are logged in on: a random login code (stored only in scrambled form; there is no password), the time, your IP address and basic browser details.

We do not ask for your name, and we do not collect any payment details, because everything on this website is free.

3. How we use your information

• Calculate and show Brahma Muhurta and related times for your location.
• Send you the daily email and/or monthly calendar file, only if you have asked for them.
• Let you log in with a one-time link and manage or delete your settings.
• Keep the website secure, prevent abuse, and fix technical problems.
• Understand in general how the public pages are used so we can improve them.
• Respond to your questions and requests, and comply with legal obligations.

Each daily and monthly email also contains one advert for another website of ours. It is an ordinary link; we add no tracking to it. We switch off open and click tracking in our email service, so we do not know whether you opened an email.

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR Article 6)

• Consent: to send you the daily and monthly emails, and to save your settings. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 9).
• Contract: to provide the My settings service you asked for.
• Legitimate interest: to guess your approximate location so the calculator works straight away, to keep the website secure and prevent abuse, and to understand in general how the public pages are used.
• Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or hand over information.

5. Data storage and security

• Your data is stored on secure servers within the European Union, in a database that is not publicly accessible.
• Login is by one-time email link, so there is no password to steal. Login codes are stored only in scrambled form, and links stop working after a short time.
• We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
• Only authorized personnel have access to personal data.

6. Data retention

• Your My settings data (email, location, preferences, email records): kept until you delete it, then removed straight away.
• Unconfirmed email addresses: deleted automatically after 7 days.
• Login links: expire after a short time and are then deleted.
• Logged-in browsers: up to 90 days, or until you log out.
• Request counters for abuse prevention: deleted within a day.
• Location cookies: 1 to 7 days on your device (see our Cookie Policy).
• Analytics data and server logs: kept by the respective providers for as long as is necessary for the purposes above, unless longer retention is needed for legal compliance.

7. Data sharing and service providers

We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal data to third parties. We use these service providers to run the website, under appropriate data protection terms:

We may also share data with legal authorities if the law requires it, and with other parties only with your explicit consent.

If you press play on one of our videos, it is shown from YouTube in a pop-up. From that moment YouTube (Google) handles your data under its own privacy policy.

8. International data transfers

Our own servers are in the European Union. Some of the providers above may process data outside the European Economic Area. In that case we rely on the safeguards approved under the GDPR, such as standard contractual clauses, in our agreements with them.

9. Your rights (under GDPR)

If you are in the EU or UK you have the right to:

• access your personal data;
• correct inaccuracies;
• request deletion (“right to be forgotten”);
• restrict or object to processing;
• receive a copy of your data in a portable format;
• withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before.

How:

• Stop the emails: every email has an Unsubscribe link, or switch them off in My settings.
• Delete everything: log in to My settings and choose “Delete my account and data”. Your address, location, settings and email records are removed straight away.
• Anything else (a copy of your data, a correction, an objection): contact us using the details in section 13.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Hungary this is the NAIH: www.naih.hu. You may also complain to the authority in your own country.

10. Children’s privacy

This website is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover data from a child, it will be deleted immediately.

11. Third-party services and links

This website may include links to external websites or tools. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites. Please review their privacy policies before using them. The presence of third-party links or services on our website does not imply any partnership, sponsorship, or endorsement. We provide these links solely for informational purposes, and you interact with third-party services at your own discretion.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date of the latest change is shown at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced on this website or by email to people who have saved settings.
